Born in Brazil, coming from French Guiana, he now lives in Paris since 2014. Drey Karper is a singer and songwriter, also passionate about photography. Driven by his love for music, he celebrates life through his songs, highlighting his emotions, memories, desires and imagination. His music is soft, rich and honest. He sings in English, French and Portuguese. It is important for him to embrace all that is part of him. He likes to explore different sounds and express himself on different rhythms while remaining authentic and honest.
His connection to music has always been there, either through the choirs he was part of in churches, at school, or in his bedroom. Music has a very important place in his life, it was his friend during his periods of introspection and solitude, a friend he could and still can count on today. And when he creates music, he brings new friends to life. According to Drey, making music is like creating magic.
Motivated and inspired by the beginnings of artists such as Kali Uchis, SZA, Tyler The Creator and Doja Cat, he started making music on the cheap, and posting his music on SoundCloud and YouTube. In late 2018, he released his first EP « Lofi Crème » and his track « Vibes Builder ». He is currently working on several projects and is preparing great things for the year 2023. And for this end of year, he offers us a retrospective mini EP called « Drellyo », which is his real name.

Animé par son amour pour la musique, il célèbre la vie à travers ses chansons, mettant en lumière ses émotions, ses souvenirs, ses désirs et son imagination. Sa musique est douce, riche et honnête. Il chante en anglais, français et portugais. Il est important pour lui d’embrasser tout ce qui fait partie de lui. Il aime explorer plusieurs sonorités et s’exprimer sur différents rythmes tout en restant authentique et honnête.
Son rapport à la musique a toujours été là, soit grâce aux chorales dont il faisait partie dans les églises, à l’école, ou dans sa chambre. La musique a une place très importante dans sa vie, c’était son amie pendant ses périodes d’introspection et de solitude, une amie sur qui il pouvait et peut encore compter aujourd’hui. Et quand il crée de la musique, il donne vie à de nouveaux amis. Selon Drey, faire de la musique, c’est comme créer de la magie.
