James the Prophet and Pab the Kid are two high school friends with a common passion for music. James, born in France from English and American parents, started composing his first songs at the age of 15. Pab, originally from Lille but who spent most of his life abroad (China, Japan, India, Germany…), started making music when he met James in 2018. Together, they spent their high school years focused on creating songs, which allowed them to gain some notoriety and begin developing their own fanbases. Their careers have always been intrinsically linked despite their opposite temperaments; James is wise, calm, and collected, while Pab is energetic and playful. With his hip-hop background, James introduced Pab to artists such as Smino, Saba, Isaiah Rashad and Mac Miller, giving him a solid foundation to grow and develop his own sound. Together they share everything from live shows to studio sessions, always appearing next to each other. When James was invited to open for Yasiin Bey (Mos Def), it was obvious that they would share the experience together. After years of working together, they came up with the idea of creating a duo, alongside their respective solo careers. Many demos followed, leading to a first full-fledged project.
James the Prophet et Pab the Kid sont deux amis de lycée passionnés de musique. James, né en France de parents anglais et américains, a commencé à composer ses premières chansons à l’âge de 15 ans. Pab, originaire de Lille mais ayant passé la plupart de sa vie à l’étranger (Chine, Japon, Inde, Allemagne…), a commencé à faire de la musique lorsqu’il a rencontré James en 2018. Ensemble, ils ont passé leurs années de lycée concentrées sur la création de chansons, ce qui leur a permis d’acquérir une certaine notoriété et de commencer à développer leurs propres fanbases. Leurs carrières ont toujours été intrinsèquement liées malgré leurs tempéraments opposés ; James est sage, calme, posé, alors que Pab est énergique et espiègle. Avec son expérience du hip-hop, James a fait découvrir à Pab des artistes tels que Smino, Saba, Isaiah Rashad ou Mac Miller, lui donnant ainsi une base solide pour s’épanouir et développer son propre son. Ensemble, ils partagent tout, des concerts aux sessions de studio, apparaissant toujours l’un à côté de l’autre. Lorsque James a été invité à faire la première partie de Yasiin Bey (Mos Def), il était évident qu’ils allaient partager cette expérience ensemble. Après avoir travaillé pendant des années ensemble, ils ont eu l’idée de créer un duo, parallèlement à leurs carrières solo respectives. De nombreuses démos ont suivi, menant vers un premier projet à part entière.
